Fourth Annual Pro Bono Day
Netherlands Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Alphons Hennekens; Justice of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Remmy Kasule and the ULS President, Ruth Sebatindira

Hon. Justice Remmy Kasule of the Court of\r\nAppeal during the annual regional Pro bono Day asked Kampala Capital City\r\nAuthority (KCCA) and other urban councils to apprehend and prosecute\r\nindividuals who use children to beg on the streets.

\r\n\r\n

Hon. Justice Kasule said such acts violate\r\nthe children’s rights and dignity and it is upon those with power to stop the\r\nvice.

\r\n\r\n

He made the remarks at the fourth annual\r\nregional Pro bono Day organized by Uganda Law Society, Law Council and\r\nDemocratic Governance Facility (DGF) in Kampala last Friday.
\r\nPro Bono day seeks to promote equality in access to justice for individuals who\r\ncannot pay legal fees for representation.

\r\n\r\n

Hon. Justice Kasule also\r\nappealed to Ugandans to always use such days and other legal aid clinics to\r\naccess justice.

\r\n\r\n

The Netherlands Ambassador to Uganda, Mr\r\nAlphons Hennekens, who spoke on behalf of the development partners, said DGF is\r\ncurrently supporting three legal aid clinics in Arua, Mbarara and Soroti but\r\nthere are plans to spread to other districts in the country.
